How we work
Our co-design approach
Our co-design approach empowers Tāmaki whanau, tamariki and communities to make decisions which affect their lives.
Co-design places the emphasis on people and their experiences, rather than organisations and their needs and ways of doing things. For us, this means Tāmaki whānau and tamariki will be at the heart of our processes, working collaboratively to design our final outputs.
We take a five-stage approach to co-design:
Scope
Establishing and agreeing on the goals of the project
Look & Listen
Understanding the people who may use this service and their environment and experiences
Understand
Identifying insights and patterns from the information gathered
Solve
Finding creative solutions for the insights that have been uncovered
Build
Making plans to ensure these solutions are used and adopted
Our principles
Put Tāmaki whānau (households) and tamariki at the centre of services
Invest early in creating long-term impacts for Tāmaki through deliberate and balanced decisions
Prioritise investment based on return on investment (both human capital growth and financial), the right thing to do, a strong body of evidence, and the voice of community
Act as one; all agencies are aligned and harmonious across process, planning, reporting and evaluation
Empower a self-reliant & accountable Tāmaki community to stand together and help one another – not to be reliant on social services
Enable community-led decision making
Play by the Tāmaki way of working, with clear rules, behaviours and expectations
Adopt a fail fast approach to trial and learn from mistakes and successes, for the purposes of innovation.
