Derna/Tobruk is the first neighbourhood development as part of the Tāmaki regeneration programme in Panmure. In this neighbourhood approximately 100 new homes will be built in partnership with Fletcher Living. Thirty of these will be state homes. The Derna/Tobruk neighbourhood development will be supported by a range of regeneration initiatives including enhancing the existing parks and providing a new health and education hub.

Early Years Hub

The Early Years Hub at Tāmaki Primary School is currently in design phase. The services the hub delivers will be focused on making sure children have the best possible start in life. It will provide early childhood education, family health and wellbeing services and include multi-use spaces that can be hired by the community.

Stages of Development

Over the next three years, a mix of approximately 100 new state and private market homes will be built in three stages.

Stage 1:

Construction began on this stage in early 2018, and is expected to be completed by early 2020. There were eight exiting homes in this stage which were replaced by 19 new warm, dry homes. The two and three-storey houses and apartments are designed to fit the character of the neighbourhood and are built of robust, long-lasting building materials, including brick with cedar cladding.

Stage 2 and 3:

Construction is expected to start in mid-2020. There are 20 existing homes, with approximately 75 new homes to be built. Please note that all timelines are indicative only and are subject to change.
